When Physics Meets Soccer
The ball wasn’t just rolling at the World Cup this year—it was also rolling on June 30, 2026, at the Physics Department’s barbecue. Starting at 2:30 p.m., seven teams made up of students and staff from the department competed with great enthusiasm in the annual soccer tournament. They battled for the honor of facing the “Prof(i)” team in the final. Both sides put up a valiant fight. The “Einheitslosen” emerged as the winners.
This was celebrated during the barbecue that followed with department members in the amphitheater on campus. The student council took excellent care of the salads, drinks, desserts, and making sure everyone’s grilled food was cooked to perfection. Summery temperatures and a brief refreshing rain shower created the perfect atmosphere for a successful evening among friends and colleagues.
A heartfelt thank you to the student council for organizing the event, the department for covering the costs, the jDPG for supporting the soccer tournament, and everyone who contributed salads, desserts, or a helping hand. We look forward to doing it again next year!
