Physics Day in Kaiserslautern
Physics explores the laws and constants that hold nature together from the human perspective. The University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) in Kaiserslautern is making it possible to immerse yourself in this exciting natural science on “Physics Day” in December. On December 7, the Department of Physics will delight over 1,200 pupils and teachers with exciting experiments, hands-on stations and a major physics competition.
“Magic or physics?” is the motto for Physics Day on December 7
“Gravitational waves - a new window into the universe”, ‘Physics as a profession...?!’, ‘The power and powerlessness of quantum physics’, ‘Magic or physics - strange effects explained scientifically’: These and other topics awaited over 1,200 pupils and teachers, who were invited to the RPTU Physics Department's Physics Day on the Kaiserslautern campus. More than 40 events provided an insight into physics issues and invited visitors to listen, participate and be amazed. Of course, the day also offered plenty of opportunities to find out about physics degree courses and studying at RPTU in general and to take a look behind the scenes - where physics research takes place.
As part of the event, a physics competition was held in the morning, aimed at pupils in three age groups (8th/9th grade, 10th/11th grade and 12th/13th grade). A total of 800 pupils registered for the competition. The aim was to get pupils interested in physics. The tasks were based on the curriculum content of the respective grade level and included both theoretical and experimental tasks. Meanwhile, the accompanying teachers found a contact point in the teachers' café.
