Announcement: Public evening lecture on the Nobel Prize in Physics on December 12

“AI - hocus-pocus or science?": Evening lecture on December 12

Machine learning, neural networks or artificial intelligence (AI): many groundbreaking developments would be unthinkable without the achievements of this year's Nobel Prize winners in physics. AI is changing the way we live in almost all areas - but what is really behind it? RPTU in Kaiserslautern, in cooperation with DFKI, invites you to an exciting evening lecture on December 12, 2024 at 7 p.m., which will answer these questions and make AI technologies tangible. The lecture, which will take place in Building 46, Room 215 on the RPTU campus, is aimed at all interested parties. Registration is not required.

The occasion for the event is this year's award of the Nobel Prize in Physics to two pioneers of AI research who are considered the “forefathers” of modern developments in this field. The regional group of the Young German Physical Society (jDPG) took this as an opportunity to introduce the principles behind AI systems to the general public.

The evening will be hosted by Prof. Dr. Paul Lukowicz. As a professor at RPTU and head of the “Embedded Intelligence” research department at DFKI, he is a proven expert in the field.
