Joint summer school: "Spin Up! Exploring Magnetism and Spin"
From May 5th to 8th the joint summer school “Spin Up!: Exploring Magnetism and Spin” successfully brought together emerging researchers in spintronics, magnonics and magnetism at the CJD Conference and Guest House in Bonn, Germany. This international event was jointly organized by PhD students from two leading collaborative research centers — TRR 173 Spin+X and TRR 270 HoMMage. Among the organizers and participants were also several Spin+X students from RPTU in Kaiserslautern.
Over four days, early-career scientists from around the world engaged in an intensive program of lectures, discussions, and poster sessions, aimed at fostering collaboration and deepening understanding of cutting-edge developments in the field. The program offered a balanced mix of cutting-edge theoretical insights and recent experimental developments, reflecting the field’s rapidly evolving landscape. A series of invited talks by leading scientists provided participants with deep dives into current challenges and breakthroughs, while interactive sessions encouraged lively scientific discussions and peer engagement in a relaxed, collaborative environment.
One of the highlights of the event were the pitch talks, where participants presented their own research projects in one minute. After the pitch talks they presented their research as posters. These sessions not only allowed attendees to share their work and receive critical feedback but also helped spark new ideas and potential collaborations.
By making an atmosphere of collaboration and discovery, the organizers created a dynamic environment in which young researchers deepened their expertise, built lasting professional connections, and helped shape the future direction of magnetism and spin research.
