Arbeitsgruppe Prof. Weiler

About

The workshop on Applied Spintronic Phenomena is organized in the context of the International Network for Spintronics. The broad aim of this network is to demonstrate new spintronic logic concepts with low-energy consumption by developing new magnetic materials, designing new logic circuits and characterising them for yield improvement. The Network for Spintronics is based on collaborations between University of York, UK with Tohoku University in Japan specialised in material development and device production, RPTU in Kaiserslautern, Germany focused on magneto-optical phenomena and magnonic logics, and Spintec in France dedicated for spintronic device production and evaluation. The workshop follows a series of previous workshops in a similar format, the full list can be found here:

https://www.york.ac.uk/physics-engineering-technology/research/intelligent-systems-nano-science/projects/spintronic-materials-devices/core-to-core/

The workshop covers selected aspects from applied spintronics in both theory and experiment. We will have about 15-20 invited speakers as well as contributed talks and posters. The workshop is financially supported by the state research center OPTIMAS and the collaborative research center Spin+X.

Abstract submission is now closed. Registered participants will receive further information soon.

Important Dates and Information

  • The workshop will take place June 3rd to June 5th 2024.
  • Registration for the workshop and abstract upload is possible until April 9th (extended deadline until April 15th 10:00 am CEST). Please use the form below.
  • There will be a workshop fee to cover local expenses beyond the funding that we generously reveive from the collaborative research center Spin+X and the state research center OPTIMAS. The exact workshop fee still has to be determined and will likely be less than 300 EUR. A link for payment will be sent to the email used on the registration form. Payment will be enabled after abstract submission closes.
  • On-site registration will be possible only with increased rate (without contribution / without conference dinner only). So please register online.
  • Invited talks are 25 min + 5 min discussion (tentatively, please check this webpage for updates before preparing your talk)
  • Contributed talks are 12 min + 3 min discussion (tentatively, please check this webpage for updates before preparing your talk)
  • There will be a single poster session. Poster format is A0, portrait.
  • This is an in-person workshop, online participation is not possible.

Location

The workshop will take place in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The closest airport is Frankfurt Airport (FRA). There is regular train service to Kaiserslautern from Frankfurt Airport and vice versa. The train ride from Frankfurt airport to Kaiserslautern takes about 2 hours. Train tickets are available for purchase at the airport (DB Reisezentrum) or online at  bahn.de. You will need a ticket from "Frankfurt(M) Flughafen" to "Kaiserslautern Hbf". At Frankfurt airport there are two train stations (Regionalbahnhof & Fernbahnhof). Both are right next to each other, within walking distance from the terminal and both offer service to Kaiserslautern.

The venue for all talks is the Businness and Information Center BIC at Trippstadter Straße, 67663 Kaiserslautern, Germany. The location is within walking distance of the university campus. The poster session will be located in the  Laboratory for Advanced Spin Engineering (LASE) on campus. BIC and LASE can be reached by local public transport (bus).

Accomodation

There is no conference hotel, and accomodation is not included in the workshop fee. All participants have to book their own accomodation.

There are two hotels within walking distance (Hotel Zollamt, 10 min walk or B&B Hotel, 25 min walk). Both hotels are within walking distance from Kaiserslautern main station. We reserved a limited quantity of hotel rooms at B&B at a discounted rate. Instructions on how to book a room within the contingent will be sent via email to you after registration.

Scientific Program

The full scientific program will follow once abstract submission has been closed. You can find the tentative schedule here:

Preliminary Schedule

The workshop will start at 8:50 am on Monday, June 3rd in BIC (see above for exact location). The workshop will terminate on Wednesday, June 5th around noon.
