Ultrafast Dynamics and Control of Quantum Materials

Rettig Group

Welcome to the Rettig research group website

We are an experimental research group investigating ultrafast processes in materials with strong interactions. In such quantum materials, these couplings lead to complex behavior and novel material properties. The goal of our research is to understand, at the microscopic level, the fundamental processes and interactions that enable fascinating phenomena such as magnetic order, superconductivity, or metal-insulator transitions, as well as to influence material properties on ultrafast time scales. To this end, we develop and use complementary ultrafast techniques such as time-, spin-, and angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (SPIN-trARPES), time-resolved diffraction techniques, or ultrafast (magneto-)optics, which provide us with deep insights into the fundamental microscopic processes in complex materials.

Our research is closely linked to the work of the research group led by Prof. Martin Aeschlimann, who continues to be active as a senior professor.
