Why you should study in Kaiserslautern

Kaiserslautern is a modern, lively and colorful city. It is not only known as a scientific location for innovation and technology, but is also characterized by its love for wine and a devotion to soccer. Surrounded by the Palatinate Forest, it is close to the border of the neighboring countries Luxembourg and France; Paris can be easily reached by direct train in just 2.5 hours! In Kaiserslautern itself, many things can be easily reached by bike or bus thanks to the short distances and, as a university city, it offers many advantages for students.

Campus life in Kaiserslautern - more than just studying!

Being a student involves much more than studying and researching. Here at the RPTU in Kaiserslautern, you benefit from a diverse and unique campus life! From culture, sports and parties to a wide variety of university groups and a very committed student council, you will find a multifaceted program for your free time that will make you want to participate and help shape it.

Affordable living in Kaiserslautern

Kaiserslautern attracts students with its low cost of living and comparatively affordable apartments in the immediate neighborhood of the university. As a campus university, our facilities are not spread all over the city, but are united in one location - and right in the middle, in the university living area, there are nice and, above all, reasonably sized apartments for little money. Like our green campus itself, they border directly on the Palatinate Forest. It's a great place to live and save money at the same time!

Financing your studies - scholarships, BAföG und Studierendenwerk

Studying for several years can quickly become an expensive affair, because those who study full-time usually have little time for secondary employment between the lecture hall and self-study. The RPTU therefore offers numerous scholarship programmes, advice on external foundations and funding organizations as well as further support from the Studierendenwerk. Many of our research groups also offer students the opportunity to work as research assistants, which also gives them an insight into everyday research life.
